A, an, the, no article

 Following the review, we have done some exercises about the correct use of the articles a, an and the. Here you have the rules and two videos with  explanations and more examples.

 At the end of this term we are going to review, between other things, how to do the plural form of the singular nouns. In class we are doing a lot of exercises about this, it is fun.

Present perfect tense 6º EP

Hello everybody. Welcome to the second term in this new year 2021. 

In unit number 3, we are going to learn the present perfect tense.

We use present perfect to talk about actions that happened in the past and have a result in the present.

To form the present perfect, we use has/have + past participle. An example:

Affirmative: I have eaten

Negative: You haven´t eaten

Interrogative: Has she eaten? Yes, she has/ No, she hasn´t

To form the past participle of regular verbs, we add -ed to the verb: play- played.

You have to study the past participle of irregular verbs.

Hair Love es un cortometraje que ganó en la entrega de los Oscar 2020, el premio en la categoría de Mejor Cortometraje Animado.

Cuenta la historia de un papá que se enfrenta a la "difícil" tarea de tener que peinar a su hija por primera vez. Además , representa la belleza de una familia y de una mamá que sobrevive a una terrible enfermedad.

Nos enseña que tenemos que enfrentarnos a nuestros miedos, a lo que nos resulta difícil, y que si ponemos empeño y trabajamos, seremos capaces de superarlos y conseguirlo.

Chic@s, me he enterado de que os sabéis un cuento de piratas muy chuli. Cuando nos volvamos a ver, que va a ser muy pronto, me tendréis que contar el cuento de Pepita la Pirata, ¿Pepita? o ¿era Daniela la Pirata?. ¿Y quería ser pirata del Caimán Negro o del Azul? y ¿cómo se llamaba el capitán del barco pirata, Orejatorcida u Orejacortada?, ... En fin, ya me contaréis.

Recordad que usamos There is para expresar que hay una cosa o una persona, sólo una, lo usamos en singular, por ejemplo:

There is a spy in my book.

Hay un espía en mi libro. 

Para decir que no hay algo o alguien simplemente ponemos las negación detrás del is, así:

There isn´t a spy in my book or There is not a spy in my book.

No hay un espía en mi libro.

Y para preguntar si hay algo o alguien:

Is there a spy in my book? 

Yes, there is

No, there isn´t

¿Hay un espía en mi libro?

Sí hay

No, no hay

También hemos usado, aunque menos, el There are ya que lo practicaremos en más profundidad en otro momento. There are lo usamos cuando hay más de una  cosa o persona, es decir, en plural, por ejemplo:

There are four adventures in my book.

There aren´t four adventures in my book or There are not four adventures in my book.

Are there four adventures in my book?

Yes, there are

No, there aren´t

Preposiciones (2º EP)

Las preposiciones de lugar son usadas para mostrar la posición de una cosa con respecto a otra.

Estas preposiciones se colocan detrás del verbo principal, que suele ser el verbo To Be (ser/estar). 

Las que aparecen en la imagen son las que hemos trabajado y repasado.

A continuación, podéis leer las frases correspondientes a cada uno de los dibujos:

• The green ball is IN the box.
• The ball is ON the box.
• The ball is UNDER the box.
• The ball is NEXT TO the box.
• The ball is BEHIND the box.
• The ball is IN FRONT OF the box.
• The ball is BETWEEN the box (entre).

Uso del diccionario bilingüe

Aquí os dejo las instrucciones de cómo buscar una palabra en un diccionario bilingüe inglés-español o español-inglés. Es como el uso de un diccionario de español que usáis para la clase de Lengua Castellana pero con unos matices diferentes.

Es fundamental para buscar el significado de una palabra, el sabernos el abecedario. Repasadlo en inglés en este blog en entradas anteriores. Os recuerdo que la letra Ñ no existe en inglés.

Espero que os sea de ayuda y que lo pongáis en práctica cuando tengáis alguna duda de alguna palabra.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar (EI 4 años)

Hoy vamos a escuchar el cuento de La oruga glotona (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). Ya sabéis que esta oruga comía muchiiiiiiiiiiísimo así que vamos a repasar en esta historia los días de la semana y el nombre de algunos alimentos.

Pues ahora vamos a escuchar la historia en una canción super marchosa.

En la siguiente canción no hay una oruga glotona sola. Os va a encantar.

Hungry Caterpillars

Y ahora vamos a hacer nuestro gusano personal.

Es muy sencillo, necesitamos papel verde para hacer los aros del cuerpo, papel rojo para hacer el aro de la cara, pegamento y un rotulador para dibujar los ojos y la boca.

Now, we are going to create our personal caterpillar.

It´s very easy, we need:

• green paper to make the body
• red paper to make the head
• a marker to draw the eyes and the mouth (if we have plastic eyes, you can use them)

El siguiente gusano es más completo. Tiene en cada círculo verde que forma su cuerpo el día y lo que comió. Recuerda:

• el lunes, una manzana
• el martes, dos peras
• el miércoles, tres ciruelas
• el jueves, cuatro fresas
• el viernes, cinco naranjas
• el sábado, un trozo de pastel de chocolate, un cono de helado, un pepinillo, una loncha de queso suizo, una loncha de salami, un chupachup, un trozo de pastel de cereza, una salchicha, una magdalena y un trozo de sandía. Chicos, imposible dibujar todo esto en un sólo círculo ja ja.
• el domingo, una hoja verde.

The next caterpillar is more complex. Its body is made with green circles and in these circles we have to write the days of the week and all the food it ate. Remember:

• on Monday, one apple
• on Tuesday, two pears
• on Wednesday, three plums
• on Thursday, four strawberries
• on Friday, five oranges
• on Saturday, one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone, one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, one slice of watermelon. Children, it´s imposible to draw all these food in a circle ja ja
• on Sunday, one green leaf.

No olvides que en inglés la primera letra de los días de la semana se escribe en mayúscula.

Don´t forget, in English we write the days of the week with capital letter.
